Bluff Point State Park

Located in Groton, Connecticut, Bluff Point State Park is one of the few remaining undeveloped areas on the Connecticut coastline. The park offers many recreational activities and most notably the wonderful view of the Long Shore Sound.

Activities

Bluff Point State Park has activities such as hiking, mountain biking and of course saltwater fishing on its shoreline. Shell fishing is also available with a permit purchased from the City of Groton. The shore is only accessible by foot, yet when you reach the shore, you have no regrets as the magnificent view of the Long Shore Sound welcomes you. If you are interested in biking, the Bluff Point State Park offers a wonderful wooded bike trail with local wildlife and nature to entertain you along the way.

Wildlife

Bluff Point State Park is registered as a coastal reserve, constantly fighting with erosion from the strong winds and rising sea levels. Wildlife is sparse in the park, but there are many beautiful plants along the coast that amaze any visitor, including plants such as beach plums and shore roses. The red and white shore roses along the coast add color to the magnificent view of Long Shore Sound. The area is a hot spot for photographers wanting to capture such a beautiful scene.

Bluff Point State Park is filled with nature that does not cease to amaze any and all visitors. The park is a must visit location if you enjoy hikes with wonderful views and the relaxing breeze from the sea.
