History

In 1851, Milo Burr built a dam across the confluence of several mountain streams to build up power. Burr constructed a tannery and three sawmills that consumed the pine and oak around the site area for the production of high-quality lumber. The pond created by the dam, Burr Pond, was designated as a state park in 1949.

Location

This fine state park is located in the state of Connecticut near Torrington on a medium-sized lake. It is a water oriented getaway, with plenty of fishing and swimming.
