Fort Trumbull State Park

At Fort Trumbull State Park you have the opportunity to experience more than a picnic in the forest. You can also tour a Revolutionary War era fort and learn about life during this time period from a highly knowledgeable staff and group of tour guides. Located in on the bank of the Thames River in New London, CT, the park has something to offer for children and adults of all ages; so if you are a parent, you do not have to worry about your kids complaining of boredom or wanting to head home early.
Touring the fort
Several of the original buildings of Fort Trumbull remain standing and are open for viewing. Professional tours are available most days of the week. These culminate at the park's gift shop which offers a large selection of specialized souvenirs, including replicas of gear from the days of the Revolutionary War.
Activities
Aside from touring the fort, there are several other things to do when you visit this park. Fish in designated areas for species such as bluefish and striped bass, or go swimming and wading in other areas that are reserved for that purpose. In addition, paths wind through the park providing excellent walking and jogging routes.
Amenities
Public restrooms are available to visitors during the summer season. On-site parking is available in several designated areas, and there is a nominal fee for admission, which is used to maintain the park.
